What We Transfer

We bring the past into the present by converting outdated media to formats that work on today's devices and are preserved for the future: DVD, Blu-ray, or digital files on a flash drive or external hard drive.

What to Expect

Video tapes

VHS, VHS-C, BetaMax, MiniDV, HDV, MicroMV, 8mm, Hi8 and Digital 8 tapes can be transferred to DVD, Blu-ray or digital files, or a combination of disc and file. Up to 120 minutes of video fits on one DVD. Standard handling is one tape to one DVD; combining several tapes on one DVD is available on request and priced per original. We also transfer broadcast formats (U-matic, Betacam, DVCAM, DVCPRO, D2, MII and HDCAM) and PAL tapes.

Movie film

Movie film is scanned frame by frame and color graded. Film is cleaned, bad splices are replaced and damaged film is repaired. Small reels are spliced together and returned on 400′ reels. A single 2-hour DVD can hold up to 1,600′ of 8mm film, 1,800′ of Super 8 film or 3,200′ of 16mm film.Available resolutions: DVD and standard definition data file 720 x 480 (4:3) · HD data file or Blu-ray 1920 x 1080 (16:9) · 2K 2048 x 1536 (4:3) · 2.5K 2560 x 1440 (16:9) · 4K 4096 x 2160 (17:9). 8mm and Super 8 up to 2.5K; 16mm and 35mm up to 4K. Higher resolutions generally give better results, but the quality of the original film may limit the improvement. MOV is best for professional editing; MP4 for broad compatibility.

Digital to new digital

Video from SD cards, camcorder hard drives, flash drives, MiniDVDs, DVDs, Blu-ray discs and data discs, transferred to DVD, Blu-ray or modern data files (MP4, MOV, AVI or WMV).

Audio transfers

Audio reels, cassettes, LP records (33, 45 and 78), 8-track tapes and audio CDs transferred to MP3, with an optional CD of the transfer.

Slideshow DVDs

Your digital photos combined into a slideshow DVD to watch on your TV or computer. Each image dissolves smoothly into the next at 8–10 second intervals, and up to 800 images fit on one DVD. Name your files in the order you want them to appear. Add optional on-screen titles and background music, either royalty-free or your own MP3s. Have prints, slides or negatives instead? We can scan them for an additional charge.

If a tape or reel can't be transferred

Old media doesn't always survive. If a tape or film reel can't be transferred, you're not charged for that transfer.
